Hello Nubians,<br /><br />Leave it to social media to get me smitten with #ManicureMonday. Thanks to instagram and tumblr, I'm constantly bumping into so much nail inspiration. Sometimes unfortunately... I'm not located near certain salons, but it's still great looking at the photos for ideas and to try to do something similar.<br /><br />Recently via instagram I found I Scream Nails located in Australia (<i>Melbourne and Sydney</i>) and fell in love so hard. I adore bright, bold, colorful, and unique designs. I also am fascinated with things that involve pop culture icons or trends whether it be Hello Kitty, Aliens, Pizza, Watermelon, etc.<br /><br />Here are some of my favorite photos from the I Scream Nails instagram page. My nails were fairly long but of course one of them just had to break so I cut them all... Don't you just hate that!? Anyway, I cut my nails really short and kind of improvised a few lines to make a fun little design. I decided to DIY my manicure instead of going to the salon. I actually do this pretty often to try to improve my skills. It also doesn't hurt to save a few bucks along the way/ </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">For my base color I used Sally Hansen Velvet 640 Velour. It's a nice matte purple color. I proceeded but using LA. Colors Art Deco wands in white and silver glitter to make some lines off the top of my head and make the manicure more fun. I sealed the manicure with Sally Hansen's Gel Shine 3D Top Coat. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: HelveticaNeue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 26px;"><i>Ayer por la noche después de un poco de limpieza de primavera decidí darme un manicure y pedicure. Mis uñas eran bastante largas, pero por supuesto uno de ellas tenía que romperse y tuve que cortarlas todas... ¿No lo odias? Hello Nubians,<br /><br />I got a manicure done last week at Jolie Nail Spa in Las Vegas and the did a really nice job. I decided to go with a pointy acrylic. There's something about a stiletto nail I find sexy and alluring. Perhaps it's because the shape has a feline quality to them... and an aire of mystery. If you keep them at an appropriate length I find them to be quite sophisticated as well.<br /><br />It's really important to make sure you're nails are done as a lady. I say either you have have a nice lacquer on or nothing at all. Letting your polish chip for too long is like a tragedy occurring on your hands for all to see. I haven't always been the best at keeping my nails nice and polished but I've certainly gotten better throughout the years.<br /><br />If you're looking for a glorious ravishing red that will just speak volumes to you, I recommend OPI Big Apple Red. It's the one I used and as you can see in the photos below it's glamorous. Yesterday I went to Wall Street to visit Duane Reade. I actually love getting my nails done there! Strange right? You wouldn't think of Duane Reade as a place to get your nails done but it's AWESOME and I prefer it to a lot of nail salons I've been to. Did you know Manicures are about 5,000 years old and that french manicures specifically were used in Paris and very popular during the 1920's and 1930's? This is what Wikipedia does to me. It simply looks classy and very polished to me... I needed a change.<br /><br />I got Gel Extensions for the first time ever. I'm curious to find out how long they last and if I like them more than acrylic. Most people say Gel is way healthier than acrylic but other beg to differ. I hope they are better for 2 reasons... <b>1) I don't want my nails getting those annoying dents like they did with acrylic and 2) They are about double the price of acrylic. </b><br /><br />I plan to keep these for a while and then go back to my colorful and vibrant ways. I decided to go with the square shape because I was growing a bit tired of the super pointy cat shape already.<br /><b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></b><b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-size: large;">I do have one piece of advice to give when it comes to nails... </span></span></b><br /><b><br /></b><b>Keep them polished! </b>I don't care what color, if they're real or not, it does not matter just keep them polished! Don't bite them either! Fight your nail biting demons. It may shock you the amount of times people look at your hands and when they look sloppy you look sloppy #JustKeepinItReal. If you work in an office all day that's A LOT. Do you shake hands? Do you hand money to people when you pay for something? I didn't used to care so much but as I get older I care more and more.<br /><br />I have to run but before I do... What your favorite nail trend?
