Prom Dress?

Hello Nubians,<br /><br />Though my prom days are far behind me, I thought it was important to talk about a prom dress. Last week I was invited to the Prom Girls "Twitter and Tiaras" event at Dylan's Candy Bar. It was like candy and glitter exploded in a room, a rad time indeed.   <br /><br />When I was in high school I almost didn't go to prom at all. I was the rebel child, I'm sure many of you can relate. I had a very <strike>fuck this!</strike> I don't care attitude about the whole extravaganza. But I did go. I just didn't really care how I looked so much. I picked up a little black strapless dress with a little lace and called it a day... It was a very Audrey Hepburn moment... black dress, pearls, white gloves, <b><i>POW</i></b> I'm done. Though I don't regret my look THAT much (I did say it was Audrey Hepburn inspired, Duh!) There was a DIY station hosted by the ever so talented <a href="http://www.stripesandsequins.com/">Grace Atwood</a> and a bunch of bloggers were making hair combs and headbands. Last week my beloved big bloggie sister <b><a href="http://midtowngirl.com/" style="color: blue;" target="_blank">Amy</a></b><span style="color: cyan;"> </span>creator of<span style="color: blue;"> </span><b style="color: blue;"><a>Socialista New York</a></b> hosted an with with <b style="font-weight: normal;">Bond Influence</b> & <b style="font-weight: normal;">Magnolia Pictures</b> to celebrate the release of MARLEY, a documentary  based on Bob Marley’s life. I've always been a huge Bob Marley fan and was eager to attend. He was such an inspirational man who had a very particular and peaceful way of leading his life. All smiles and always seemed content. He was also effortlessly stylish and always added a nice cultural touch to his ensembles.<br /><br />We got a sneak peek at about 20 minutes of the Documentary and I was really starting to get into it! Between us, Amy saw the whole documentary and told me that by the end of it she was in tears! She said it was amazing and touching.  <br /><br />Cedella Marley, Bob Marley's daughter had a live chat with us via Skype where she spoke about her relationship with her father a bit and her new clothing line! Her new line recreates outfits from Bob Marley and his backup singers called the I3. Cedella has also  launched a swimwear collection that is available for purchase on zionrootswear.com. So cute and inspiring. Hello there, <br /><br /><br />This weekend went by way too fast for me. It's hard to keep a balance between work and play... But believe me... I work more ha ha I swear! I just gave myself 3 goals for the next few months and <span style="font-size: large;">I AM GOING TO DO THEM. <b>Can't knock the hustle.</b></span><br /><br />These photos were taken Saturday. I was hanging out with my friend Mary and we decided to pass by our friend's trunk show. Our friend Shez owns a fancy boutique in Jersey City named <a href="http://shopdeen.com/zen-cart/">DEEN boutique</a>. It has a nice array of clothing and accessories. You'll be seeing more of that in a later post. <br /><span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Dressing up has been rather interesting these days.</b></span> I'm still trying to hold on to showing my legs as much as possible, but fact of the matter is that's it's chilly! must hold on to these days while they last. <br /><br />I would say this has been my Fall uniform for now: <b>A biker jacket, combat boots, and a dress or denim with a hat. It's fashionable, trendy, and comfortable. Rihanna "We Found Love" Video

Wow, so yesterday I saw the Rihanna "We Found Love" video and was completely taken by it on all aspects. It's a story about how love is like a drug... It's an addiction. It starts with love, then obsession, then violence and then when you finally try to part ways with your lover, you go through withdrawals from the love you once had like a drug addict. At the end of the video Rihanna leaves her love but ends up curled up in a ball herself... It's a tragic tale. Rihanna starts the video with an English accent saying the following<br /><br /><br /><div style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold; text-align: center;">"It's like you're screaming and no one can hear. Hey Guys,<br /><br />I was looking through some stuff online I wanted to share with you. Most of them are pretty basic items I plan to have in my possession soon enough. So the rain decided to stop again and it seems Summer has finally decided to pop in and say "Hiya There!" or something along those lines.<br /><br />There is something about this top I find rather appealing. It's fairly simple, But the tribal design  is catching my eye. That and the fringe of course! This top has total D.I.Y potential as well. I can grab a Sharpie, A pair of scissors and have this bad boy done in 30 minutes if I wanted to AND I'd still have time to enjoy a Cup of Joe =). But I might just buy it.
